In later years, it was known as the Red Mill. During the 1890s the millwrights Englands of Acle, modernised its machinery and refitted it with double shuttered patent sails. The Norfolk boat shaped cap held a fantail. In 1936, the mill was disused for 14 years until 1950 when Geoffery Livingston, a businessman from Leicester bought the then derelict mill and converted it in 1957.
